The Hijinx Hotel is a really fun venue full of challenge rooms. It is made up of multiple sets of 5 rooms designed for 2 - 6 players. I went with just my support worker and I think we did ok considering there was groups of parents and kids, and people who'd been before! We did struggle with some rooms as a group of two, but we were laughing so much and being so competitive that we didn’t care! You need to score as many points as you can in the time limit. You can play as casually or seriously as you like.

The art décor was really cool throughout the venue. It featured a bar and seating area as well as the challenge rooms themselves. Our host was very entertaining, friendly and explained everything very well to us. We did all 10 rooms to have a real day of it. We were pretty exhausted by the end of it to be honest, so five rooms is plenty.

Depending on your mobility, some rooms let you get knee-deep in a ball pit, play Scramble on a huge screen, or try to get as many basketballs through a hoop as you can. If you have mobility issues in some rooms - why not put your support person to some extra work? Direct them with your answers or get them to pass you the balls fast so you can throw them, just for the extra laughs?!

Room hack - shhhhh! If you're really tall like I am, just pick up as many balls as you can at a time and shove them in the hole! My favourite (and less strenuous) room was the music multiple choice trivia. The décor in the giant floor piano room was really cool. I felt I'd be better at this than the more physical challenges.

Hijinx Hotel has some great accessibility features too like this great sensory map for each venue. They also offer $10 Challenge Rooms for people with a disability, and carer and companion cards are welcome free of charge. How awesome. Now that's a fun, budget friendly outing!
